Our Barre Pilates classes integrate the fat-burning format of interval training with muscle-shaping isometrics to quickly and safely reshape the entire body. Our non-impact workout uses both the ballet barre and the mat, and targets all major muscle groups. The result is the recognizable Barre body, featuring sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat, and elongated thighs. This 55 minute class also requires mental focus as muscles are strengthened and then stretched to create a longer, leaner physique.
What to know about our Barre Pilates classes
The history of Barre Pilates
The origins of Barre workouts began in 1959, in Germany, be ballet dancer Lotte Berk. Berk had suffered a back injury, and during rehabilitation, had the idea of combining her rehab wrok with her ballet barre work. Her idea was so effective for her, that she begin to teach it to others. What was once known as the Lotte Berk Method has evolved today into Barre Pilates, which has caught with people from all walks of life because of the amazing results participants enjoy. At the core of Barre Pilates is the practice of small, deep muscular movements done repetitively on specific muscle groups, working these muscles to near failure.
